Water- Not All is Created Equal

SOME FACTS
You’ve been told your whole life to drink more water. But why? First off, let’s get some facts out. The human body is made up of 60% water. Brain and heart 73%. Lungs 83% . Skin contains 64% muscles and kidneys 79% . Bones 31%. It is fair to say that water is more important to our bodies than most would like to admit. Nothing  the human body  works PROPERLY Or Efficiently Without The Presence Of water. But, not all water is considered equal. The grocery store selves are full of  choices for water but which one is the most ideal ? The most common choices for the average household are Tap, Spring, Purified and Distilled water . Tap water is nothing but purified and recycled municipal water with  added in water conditioners many of which contain chemicals and metals that are hazardous to humans. Purified water is merely bottled and pretty packaged dirty tap water. Distilled water is stripped of its nutrients so the water just runs thru rather than be absorbed into the body. When it comes to store bought water spring water is the best option for the price. There are other options as well but either they aren’t worth the money or aren’t equipped for the proper hydration of the body. The water that seems to not to be worth the extra Price  is the packaged alkaline water. Alkaline water is by far the best option but seems to cost 3-4x more than spring water. So, why alkaline water?
No Tap, Alkaline or Spring Water Only
Although the price seems high alkaline water is worth consuming because an acidic body is a house for disease. Water with a higher than neutral ph level is best for equipping the body to prevent or combat dis-ease. An inexpensive way to raise the ph of your spring water is to squeeze half of a key lime into a gallon and add a pinch of pink Himalayan salt. Naturally  the human body when healthy is around 7.4 on the ph scale. Neutral on this is ph scale is 7.0 and anything below that Is  considered acidic which  is the opposite of alkaline which is above 7.0. This is important because when the body is in an alkaline state it is better prepared to combat dis-ease by neutralizing acid on the cellular level according to an article by waterbenefitshealth.com and neutralizing acid   in  the blood which leads to an increase in oxygen in the blood . Increased amounts of O2 has many benefits as you will read about in future newsletters. Alkaline water is more hydrating because it is absorbed better at the cellular level since the ph level is closer to what the body is naturally. According to doctorshealthpress.com an increase in alkalinity helps “to reduce fat, and fatigue. Also,  alkaline water has no heavy metals, and no fluoride therefore vitamins and minerals are carried and absorbed more readily. All of these are important because most people eat a acid rich diet of processed foods, sugars, dairy and red meat.” What does this have to do with massage?
The Massage Connection
Well, a major plus with Massage is that it benefits the circulatory system. Included and most important to this subject is blood and lymph. Human blood contains red blood cells and plasma at 64% and 92% by volume of water. So the blood is almost 80% water. Lymph is made up of 96% water.  According to http://newhorizonsmassage.com “Massage can dramatically increase the rate of blood flow and stimulate nerve receptors that cause blood vessels to dilate, or open. It also causes changes in the composition of the blood. After a massage, the oxygen content in the bloodstream can increase as much as 15%.
A clear fluid called lymph carries impurities and waste fluids away from the body’s tissues and passes through glands and nodes located throughout the lymphatic system that act as filters. While blood flow is controlled by your heart, lymph’s movement depends largely on the squeezing effect of muscle contractions. Inactive people fail to stimulate the circulation of lymph, while very active people can create more waste than the body can actually remove on its own. Therapeutic massage can dramatically aid in the movement of lymph in either case.” Massage helps to move this water around and to gain the absolute best benefits from it is to drink more water and be sure that it is spring water at the very least. The best option is to get or make your water more alkaline.
